Olive Grey overview
Olive Grey is EMU Design's grey-green colourway in the outdoor WPC (wood-plastic composite) panel range. The fluted profile — raised vertical slats with dark recessed lines — gives a wall depth and shadow line without fixing individual timber slats one by one. It's positioned within the collection as the option for concrete, stone and muted landscaping schemes, sitting alongside warmer tones such as Golden Teak and Dark Teak for projects that want a cooler, more contemporary palette.

Where to use Olive Grey
Being a grey-green tone, Olive Grey is typically chosen where the cladding needs to sit alongside hard landscaping rather than stand out against it. Suitable applications for the outdoor WPC panel range include:
- Courtyard feature walls next to concrete, render or stone paving
- Fence cladding and boundary feature panels
- Entrance details and letterbox or porch surrounds
- Selected façade areas, assessed by a qualified builder where structural or waterproofing requirements apply
For building façades, balconies, high walls or boundary structures, the panel is only one part of the system — substrate, battens, drainage path, ventilation, expansion allowance and mechanical fixings all need to suit the specific project.
What is a WPC panel?
WPC stands for wood-plastic composite — a board made from wood fibre combined with a recycled polymer. It's used as an alternative to solid timber slats when a project wants a consistent fluted, timber-look appearance without the routine sanding, staining or sealing that natural timber slats usually need. Olive Grey and the rest of the outdoor collection are exterior cladding panels, and shouldn't be substituted for interior acoustic or decorative panels based on colour alone — always check that the panel, fixings and supporting structure suit your specific location and exposure level.
Weather & water exposure
"Outdoor" and "waterproof" are not the same claim. WPC panels are designed for exterior use, but the finished wall still needs correct drainage, ventilation and weatherproofing behind the cladding — the panel does not replace a compliant waterproof membrane or a properly prepared exterior wall.
Installation, clips & trims
Exterior WPC slat panels are normally planned as a complete cladding system rather than fixed wherever a screw happens to fit. Depending on the project, you may also need:
- Battens to create the fixing and drainage plane behind the panel
- Starter and end trims, plus external-corner pieces for clean finishes
- Clips or screws matched to the Olive Grey profile — generic accessories may not share the same profile or expansion allowance
- Clearance for airflow and a water-escape path behind the cladding
Small, low feature walls can suit an experienced DIY installer. High façades, ceilings, corners, walls with services, and wind-exposed areas are better assessed by a qualified installer before you order.
