Small rooms, dim hallways and south-facing living areas are where White Oak earns its keep. Instead of adding another dark surface to a room that already struggles for natural light, this panel's pale, linear timber grain bounces light around and visually pushes the walls out — while the recycled PET acoustic felt behind every slat is quietly doing the acoustic work, softening the harsh slap-back you get off a bare, hard wall. It's supplied as one long 2900mm panel, so a typical wall needs fewer joins than most of our other slat colours.

Why we recommend it
Every acoustic slat colour we sell, including White Oak, has a physical sample sitting in our Rouse Hill showroom, because pale timber finishes are the ones most likely to look different on screen than they do on your wall — a bit warmer, a bit greyer, depending on your monitor and the room's own lighting. We check ours against daylight before we recommend it for a bright room. We're also the direct supplier rather than a reseller, which is how we can keep it priced well under imported real-veneer alternatives while using the same MDF-and-felt build most of the market uses.
Does it actually reduce echo?
Picture an open-plan living room with hard flooring and a bare drywall feature wall — that's the room type where slat panels make the biggest difference, because there's currently nothing in the room absorbing sound at all. Add White Oak to one wall and the recycled felt behind each slat starts catching part of that reflected sound before it bounces back into the room. You won't get a recording studio out of it, but most people notice the room feels calmer within a day or two of living with it — less clatter, easier conversation across the room, a softer overall feel.

Before you order
- Measure both the width and height of the area, and add a small allowance for trimming
- Work out whether the 2900mm length divides cleanly across your wall, or whether the shorter Light Oak 8436S sizes suit your layout better
- Mark out any switches, sockets, doors or vents the panels will need to be cut around
- Decide between adhesive and screw fixing — screws are the easier option to remove later if you're renting
Installation
Most customers fit White Oak themselves in an afternoon using either construction adhesive or screws and a basic tool kit. Ceilings, very high walls, or wall shapes with a lot of cutting around fittings are the situations where we'd suggest bringing in an experienced installer instead — send us photos and measurements of the space and we can help you plan it either way.

Is this real oak timber?
No — the slats are MDF finished to look like light oak, not a natural wood veneer. That's a large part of why it costs less than veneer-faced panels, and it means there's nothing to oil, seal or maintain over time.
Will the colour look too warm or too grey once it's on my wall?
It can, which is exactly why we keep a physical sample in our Rouse Hill showroom rather than relying on photos alone. If a visit isn't practical, ask us for a photo taken in daylight rather than under indoor lighting before you commit.
How much difference will it actually make to the echo in my room?
It depends on the room, but the felt backing behind the slats does genuinely absorb some sound rather than just decorating over the problem. Rooms with hard floors and bare walls tend to notice the biggest change. It's a real improvement, not full soundproofing — see our note on echo above for how it works.
Can I fit this myself, or do I need a tradesperson?
Most people fit it themselves with adhesive or screws and standard tools. We'd only suggest a professional installer for ceilings, difficult wall shapes, or if you'd simply rather not do it yourself.
How many panels will my wall need?
Send through your wall's width and height and we'll help you work it out, or use our measuring guide — it's worth adding a small buffer for offcuts.

We deliver Sydney-wide, with free shipping on orders over $150. Cost below that depends on your location and order size.
Can I see and touch a sample before I buy?
Yes — our Rouse Hill showroom keeps a sample of every colour in the range, White Oak included. It's best to reach out ahead of visiting to make sure it's available to view.
